I’m pretty sure there is a written law somewhere that reads, “To celebrate Memorial Day, one must barbecue.” Sounds about right, don’t you think? Memorial Day and barbecues go together like peanut butter and jelly. Potatoes and gravy. Jello and carrots. Okay, maybe not the last one, but you get the point. It’s almost criminal NOT to have a barbecue on this holiday.
As you are gathering up your grilling goodies and making assignments for the holiday weekend, make sure you include these fun and quick FAVAO KABOBS. They are easy to prepare, delicious to eat and sure to please everyone.
FAVAO FRUIT KABOBS
- pineapple
- apples
- strawberries
- grapes
- mangoes
- pears
Cut fruit into bite-size pieces. Alternate each fruit on a kabob stick. Serve with meal or eat as an appetizer or dessert. Fruit kabobs are also delicious grilled!

FAVAO MEAT AND VEGGIE KABOBS
- chicken and/or steak and/or shrimp
- sweet potatoes
- small red potatoes
- onions
- bell peppers
- mushrooms
- carrots
- zucchini
- squash
Cut veggies and raw meat into bite-size pieces. Alternate veggies and meat on kabob skewer. For flavor, you can sprinkle kabobs with low-sodium seasoning, use lemon and lime juice or use the following sauces/dressings (before or after cooking).
SAUCES/DRESSINGS
- BBQ sauce (low sugar)
- Salsa
- FAVAO Ranch (See back of book)
- FAVAO Honey Mustard: Blend all ingredients
- 2 TB non-fat plain Greek yogurt
- 1 TB apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp mustard
- FAVAO Italian: Blend all ingredients
- 2 TB non-fat plain Greek yogurt
- 2 TB skim milk or light almond milk
- 4 rosemary needles
- 1 basil leaf
- 2 tsp fresh oregano
- 2 TB onion of choice

Enjoy your weekend, enjoy the FAVAO Kabobs, be safe, and spend lots of time with the ones you love most.

I tried these recipes for Memorial Day and my family loved it. I had not used sweet potatoes before and what a delectable addition. Thanks Trish!
